The most important specifications that separate the raspberry pi 4 from previous generations, like the raspberry pi 3B+, would be the processor and memory options. The raspberry pi 4 processor is a new generation than previous raspberry pi’s like the 3B+ which provides a noticeable boost in processing performance. Also nice is the available options 4GB and 8GB RAM. Earlier Raspberry Pis were generally 1GB RAM. This additional memory really helps bring the raspberry pi SBCs into the realm of possible desktop replacements for simple tasks like email and wbe browsing.

Raspberry Pi Cases
There are quite a number of Raspberry Pi Cases available on the market to suite your needs. The plastic ones tend to be cheaper, while the aluminum or steel cases may provide more strength or better cooling. Many of the more expensive cases have additional add-on boards inside that add support for an SSD drive, or add or relocate USB ports, or provide full-size HDMI ports for a rpi4 which only comes with micro-hdmi.
Raspberry Pi Touchscreens
Sometimes its nice to have a compact all-in-one raspberry pi available. There are some really nice cases available that combine space for the raspberry pi itself, the official Raspberry Pi 7" touchscreen and often enough space for 1 or 2 additional add-ons. You end up with a nice compact “computer” that you can sit on your desk.
